The Coming Blockchain Revolution

So watch any ONE of the following to see why crypto is taking off - giving you some options here...

Joe Rogan's Podcast:

Why blockchain is a coming "revolution":

Blockchain technology is not just about currency - primarily it solves what's known as "Two Generals' Problem" – for which there is an unsolvability proof (or issues with interactive consistency / source congruency.)  Basically, if two people disagree about the details of who owns the title to something of value, and they both have equally compelling proof to back their claims, how do you ever know for sure what happened, or even that the same the thing wasn't accidentally sold twice?

With blockchain, such a disagreement is not possible.  That might not sound profound at first, but once you understand what that means, you'll get how this is a never-before-seen breakthrough technology.

Blockchain solves a few fundamental obstacles we don't have good answers for today:
  • The ability for a file to be copied without any worry about differences between the original copy and the new copy (goodbye, secretly editing you-know-what.)
  • The ability to decentralize without compromising integrity or authority, so that you can trust in information in-and-of-itself without any need to trust the source.
  • The ability to secure information in such a way that it is not possible to hack.
Like the internet, this tech is going to cause huge changes to ANY industry that could use a fool-proof system for this level of verification abilities.  Like how we secure identity, land titles, copyright / ownership of digital media, patenting, inheritance, record keeping, credit rating, and many more... like currency.

On the blockchain, cash cannot be counterfeited and carries it's own authority.  A lot of people have realized the future impact of this technology, especially in countries where de-valuing currency / inflation is a problem, which is why there's a dot-com bubble forming around bitcoin.  Like the internet in the late 90's, the technology isn't widespread enough to warrant the kind of USD that's going into its market cap TODAY... but give it a couple of decades and it'll change the world.

Those who find and capitalize on the biggest solutions will become the world's next billionaires.

Ski Trips Next 2 Weekends

So, here's the news for the next 2 weekends...

THIS WEEKEND: Saturday Bear Trip

After double checking the resort's reports with weather.com, it is pretty clear that Bear WILL be getting a foot-ish of snow over the next couple of days.  The conditions off the main runs remain unclear, but it probably will be a "stick to the runs" kind of day.

But what's very nice is that it will be snowing Friday night, which means a little fresh powder on Saturday and all around great snow quality.

We have 2 groups planning on going up and I know of at least 3 other people going up.

Unfortunately, my car is already full.  Lance and myself will be at the lifts at opening on Saturday morning.

Group 2 consists of Josh, Mr. Juarez, and a friend of the good Juarez planning on going up.  If anyone wants to join them and has a car, they are looking for someone to ride up with.  Looks like roads will most likely be clear by Saturday morning so you probably won't have to put on cables / chains, however it will be required to have them if you don't have 4 wheel drive / snow tires (cables typically coast about $40 @ any auto supply store.)

I won't mention the other names of people thinking about heading up... but you know who you are and I'm sick of your shit!  Let's get up there!!

THE FOLLOWING WEEKEND: Going to the place that currently has the most snow in the country: Mammoth.

The real dump alert -- Mammoth *officially* has gotten 15 FEET of snow in the last 8 days.

But it's not done yet.  It's going to snow all next week too, and it's going to continue through that weekend.  And I'll be right in the middle of it.

Let me break this down for those of you that don't understand what this means...
  1. Half the trees will be completely under snow, which kind of opens up the whole mountain.
  2. There will be feet of fresh powder, so riding will feel comparable to surfing.
  3. It will be SMOOTH.  Fresh powder is great, but it typically gets cut up fast, which makes it pretty bumpy and it is kind of a bittersweet experience.  Not this time.  This time it will be snowing a fresh 6-10" or so all throughout the weekend, which means the powder will constantly be refreshing and staying very powdery.
Also, the wind looks like it will be pretty mild and the snow fall is just right - not too much, not too little - so it should be perfect conditions to ski in.  It doesn't get better.

The only downside is, these are advanced skiing conditions.  It's not for beginners.  If you're a first or second timer, or you are not prepared... frankly it would be irresponsible of me to let you tag along for this one.  You need to have your gear in order, and that includes full thermals (neck to toe... REAL thermals, no BS), good ski pants, boots/board/bindings all ready to go, face mask (or a beard), goggles, gloves, and one hell of a jacket (seriously, the windbreaker is a BAD idea.)  And I'm not trying to be mean, but just to be 100% straightforward -- if you're new to powder, we're probably only going to be getting a few runs in together... so check with me next week to see if people around your ability level will be joining unless you're cool with doing some solo runs.

This shit is the real deal!!

I've already booked a 2 queen room at the Best Western with a big jet tub.  You are cordially invited to join.
